another latex question.

i know that some of you are analysts and that some of you are wise in the ways of LaTeX. so here is a question, and if it helps, i'm using the amsart package.

is there a nice way to form a half-arrow to indicate weak-star convergence in a dual Banach space?

naively i have been using the command

      \stackrel{*}{\rightharpoonup}

as a macro. it works well, except that the asterisk * makes unnecessary vertical space between the line containing the arrow and the preceding line.

any thoughts?

Um, I dunno. But when the thesis is printed double-spaced, should not the problem disappear?

certainly: when double-spaced, there is no problem.

however, at some point i'd like this thesis to become a paper, maybe even two. call me curious.

This whole information is absolutely interesting. i like this blog because is easily understandable, and that is invaluable to the readers. Beyond all doubt La Tex will be very useful for everybody who want to prove it.

Internet is such a small place. I forgot the command for weak convergence arrow and googled it. Up comes this blog post, with my comment to it. Not to mention the insightful remark by javieth.

But most likely, it's a result of Google working hard to make the web smaller, serving each of us the content we are most familiar with.

(-:

sometimes i run Google searches when signed into Gmail and when signed out. (i suppose their internet bots are smart enough to retain my IP address, though, but it's a pleasant fiction to suppose a bit more privacy.)
