as long as i'm making mathematical resolutions, i think i'm swearing off functiοnal analytic techniques for a while, for two reasons:
- i miss drawing pictures of what i see. (like everyone else, i see in 3-D .. and like most mathematicians, i pretend to see $\mathbb{R}^n$.)
- i've been losing sleep at night. when i tell others that i study metric spaces, they constantly ask me how i can work at that level of abstraction. that comment used to sound strange to me .. until i started thinking about infinite-dimensional spaces.

odd: over the last few days i've gotten a lot of emails from journals and publishers, exhorting me to submit something.

i guess it's like asking everyone out for a date;
if you don't ask, then you won't have a date,
and if you're not too choosy ..? (-;
