"i like the math in this talk;
it's a good story."
i just wish that it was someone else who tells the story of the schoenflies problem and its various incarnations.
i love telling stories, but i'm no good at storytelling.
as you can imagine, the usual process happened:
- days before, i am excited about giving a talk and the mathematics involved. i think of how cool the theorems are.
- the day of the talk, i'm nervous and worried that something is amiss, that it's all wrong, and that i'll forget to say subtleties that matter to me.
indeed, i will forget to say them. i always do. - after the talk, i realise that i've forgotten again: i hate giving talks. it never goes as well as i would like.
oh well. at least my friend (who talked at the same time, in a parallel session) won most of the audience. truth be told, i wanted to hear what he would say.
sometimes talks do get in the way of a conference .. \:
